POSITION SUMMARY
The Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development Lead will spearhead initiatives to strengthen and advance Professional Accountancy Organizations globally. This role focuses on building institutional capacity, driving adoption of international standards, and supporting sustainable organizational models that enhance the credibility and effectiveness of the accountancy profession. In addition, this role provides strategic oversight of the Professional Accountancy Organization Development Advisory Group (PAODAG), ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and offering guidance to maximize impact and effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of the global accountancy ecosystem, strong relationship-building skills, and proven experience in organizational development, technical assistance, or capacity building.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally, if an applicant is US-based, provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also be able to enroll in our company’s 401 (k) plan, as well as a deferred compensation plan, provided they meet plan requirements.
IFAC welcomes applicants from all geographical locations, and this role can be remote. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At IFAC, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for candidates in the NY-Metropolitan region is $150,000 to $200,000.

- Design and implement strategies that strengthen PAOs and support their progression in line with international standards and good practices.
- Support capacity building by leading technical assistance programs, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that build PAO capabilities in governance, education, regulation, and member services.
- Provide tailored guidance to PAOs on strategic planning, financial sustainability, standard-setting, compliance with Statements of Membership Obligations (SMOs), and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate with governments, regulators, development partners, and regional accountancy bodies to align efforts and leverage resources for PAO advancement.
- Oversee the development of research, tools, case studies, and resources that promote growth, innovation, and resilience across the global accountancy profession.
- Establish mechanisms to assess the progress and impact of PAO development initiatives, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic oversight and direct management of the PAODAG Senior Associate, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and offering guidance to maximize impact.
- Drive the adoption and effective implementation of global standards by shaping strategies, fostering knowledge exchange, and guiding member organizations with targeted support and resources.
- Oversee and support the Senior Associate in managing strategy and implementation, including delivery of IFAC’s multi-year PAODAG strategy and the operations and outputs of the related advisory group.
- Collaborate with the Member Engagement team to design and implement materials that support the adoption and implementation of international standards.
- At the discretion of the CEO, represent the organization in international forums, promoting the importance of strong PAOs in advancing public interest and supporting sustainable economies.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accountancy, corporate finance, reporting, or related fields, preferably within a nonprofit or global professional membership organization.
- Knowledge of key topics relevant to PAOs, such as management accounting, ESG/sustainability, corporate governance, integrated reporting, and finance transformation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and authoritative technical materials for professional audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams, stakeholders, and senior leaders, including officials from external organizations and governments.
- Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, including those imposed externally.
- Commitment to quality processes and high-quality deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with flexibility especially important.
- Comfort working with complex or technical subject matter and making it accessible to broader audiences.
