POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Associate, Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development will play a key role in advancing IFAC’s work to strengthen PAOs and to support the development and recognition of PAOs globally. Working across the PAO Development Advisory Group (PAODAG) this position provides research, coordination, and project support to drive IFAC’s MVP and advance the public interest and strengthen the global accountancy profession. The Senior Associate will closely collaborate with the PAO Development Lead, external stakeholders, advisory group members, and IFAC’s member organizations to facilitate knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of impactful initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally, if an applicant is US-based, provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also be able to enroll in our company’s 401 (k) plan, as well as a deferred compensation plan, provided they meet plan requirements.
IFAC welcomes applicants from all geographical locations, and this role can be remote. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At IFAC, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for candidates in the NY-Metropolitan region is $90,000 to $120,000.

- In collaboration with the PAO Development lead, develop and implement IFAC’s multi-year PAODAG strategy, ensuring alignment with the MVP and global trends in finance, integrated reporting, and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG).
- Manage the operations and deliverables of the PAO Development Advisory Group including preparation of agendas, briefing materials, reports, and follow-up action items.
- Conduct research and analysis on trends, challenges, and opportunities affecting PAOs, producing reports, briefing notes, and thought leadership content.
- Contribute to the development of tools, guidance, and resources that strengthen PAO capacity, governance, sustainability, and alignment with international standards.
- Support initiatives that enhance the role and visibility of PAOs in corporate, government, and the not-for-profit sectors.
- Engage directly with IFAC member organizations, regional bodies, development partners, and other stakeholders to share knowledge, build relationships, and advance projects.
- Collaborate with Member Monitoring, Implementation, and Member Engagement teams to understand challenges to standards adoption and to support effective implementation strategies.
- Support the adoption and implementation of global standards by developing practical resources, facilitating knowledge exchange, and providing targeted guidance to member organizations.
- In conjunction with the communications team, draft communications and content (articles, summaries, website updates, presentations) to disseminate insights and outcomes from advisory group activities.
- Design and oversee initiatives that strengthen capacity building, such as global toolkits, educational resources, and knowledge-sharing platforms (e.g., the Knowledge Gateway).
- Track project timelines, deliverables, and metrics to ensure effective execution and continuous improvement.
- Provide support for advisory group meetings and related events, liaising with members and facilitating smooth execution.
- At the discretion of the CEO, represent IFAC in internal and external discussions, contributing a consistent and professional voice on PAO development related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accountancy, corporate finance, reporting, or related fields, preferably within a nonprofit or global professional membership organization.
- Exposure to key topics relevant to PAOs, such as management accounting, ESG/sustainability, corporate governance, integrated reporting, and finance transformation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and authoritative technical materials for professional audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with digital content platforms and virtual collaboration tools is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams, stakeholders, and senior leaders, including officials from external organizations and governments.
- Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, including those imposed externally.
- Commitment to quality processes and high-quality deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with flexibility especially important.
- Comfort working with complex or technical subject matter and making it accessible to broader audiences.
