POSITION SUMMARY 
The Senior Associate, Advocacy, Regulatory and Policy provides essential support for IFAC’s global efforts in public policy development, regulatory affairs, and external advocacy for Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB), including Small and Medium-sized Practices (SMPs) and Small and Medium-sized Entities (SMEs). Reporting to the Head of Advocacy, Regulatory, and Policy, this role assists in researching emerging global issues, working with preparing technical documents, managing stakeholder engagements, and contributing to IFAC’s thought leadership on topics impacting the accountancy profession. This role also works closely with Small and Medium-sized Practices (SMPs) and Small and Medium-sized Entities (SMEs).  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
Essential duties and responsibilities include those that are set out below.  Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Policy & Research Support
  • Support the drafting and editing of policy papers, comment letters, technical briefs, and external communications related to global advocacy and regulatory matters, with specific attention to the needs and perspectives of professional accountants in business, including SMPs and SMEs. 
  • Research regulatory developments, policy trends, and issues affecting the accountancy profession, including those that directly impact professional accountants in business, including SMPs and SMEs. 
  • Prepare materials for meetings, presentations, and external engagements, including briefings for Senior Leadership and governance bodies, ensuring that PAIB, SMP and SME considerations are reflected.

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Assist in managing the logistics of stakeholder engagement activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships between IFAC and a range of external parties such as IFAC member organizations, firms, international standard-setting organizations, and other relevant stakeholder organizations as appropriate.
  • Organize events, prepare engaging slides, and undertake presentations at conferences, seminars, and forums, incorporating PAIB, SMP and SME perspectives where relevant.

Communications & Knowledge Development
  • In coordination with the Communications team, maintain, update, and expand content on IFAC’s digital platforms and the Knowledge Gateway, including writing articles, facilitating videos and podcasts, and curating resources tailored for PAIBs, SMPs and SMEs, to support advocacy, policy, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Monitor key regulatory consultations and help track deadlines and deliverables for IFAC’s responses.
  • Support internal coordination across departments to ensure alignment of policy and advocacy initiatives.
  • Maintain records and databases for regulatory tracking, stakeholder contacts, and project documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of knowledge resources, summaries, and insights for member organizations, PAIBs, SMPs, SMEs, and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in administration, public policy, regulatory affairs, advocacy, or a global professional services organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams, stakeholders, and senior leaders, including officials from external organizations and governments.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, including those imposed externally.
  • Commitment to quality processes and high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with flexibility especially important.
  • Comfort working with complex or technical subject matter and making it accessible to broader audiences.
  • Experience with content management systems, email platforms, or social media tools.
  • Familiarity with accounting, regulation, or public interest policy.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally, if an applicant is US-based, provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also be able to enroll in our company’s 401 (k) plan, as well as a deferred compensation plan, provided they meet plan requirements. 

IFAC welcomes applicants from all geographical locations, and this role can be remote. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At IFAC, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for candidates in the NY-Metropolitan region is $90,000 to $120,000.
