POSITION SUMMARY 
The Global Accountancy Regulatory and Engagement Manager, plays a critical role in advancing IFAC’s public policy, regulatory affairs, and external advocacy agenda. The role will have a particular focus on supporting IFAC’s advisory groups which deal with complex matters relating to future-readiness, technical accounting, audit & assurance, and ethics.

Reporting to the Head of Advocacy, Regulatory, and Policy, this position is responsible for end-to-end support for three of IFAC’s Advisory Groups, namely the Public Policy and Regulation Advisory Group (PPRAG), the Professional Accountants in Business Advisory Group (PAIBAG), and the Small and Medium-sized Practices Advisory Group (SMPAG). The role will also lead in supporting several of IFAC’s Communities of Practice.

The role will primarily focus on researching emerging global issues affecting the accountancy profession to generate high-quality agendas and supporting materials for the IFAC’s Advisory Groups referred to above. This position will also be responsible for ensuring the insights generated from engagements at Advisory Group meetings are synthesized into high-quality outputs that support IFAC’s advocacy efforts, communication of policy positions and responses to regulatory developments. The role will also support IFAC’s broader policy and advocacy initiatives across the PAIB, SME, and SMP communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
Essential duties and responsibilities include those that are set out below.  Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Global Policy and Advocacy
  • Provide coordination and knowledge support across IFAC’s Advisory Groups (PPRAG, PAIBAG, and SMPAG) ensuring alignment, information sharing, and consistency of messaging across the groups’ policy and advocacy priorities.
  • Support the drafting and editing of policy papers, technical briefs and external communications related to global advocacy and regulatory matters, with specific attention to the needs and perspectives of PAIBs, SMPs and SMEs. 
  • Research regulatory developments, policy trends, and issues affecting the global accountancy profession, including those that directly impact professional accountants in business, SMPs and SMEs. 
  • Develop high‑quality materials for meetings, presentations, and senior leadership briefings, ensuring relevant stakeholder perspectives are incorporated.
  • Facilitate internal coordination across departments to ensure alignment on policy and advocacy initiatives.
Professional Engagement
  • Support Advisory Group and broader stakeholder engagement by shaping agendas, synthesizing discussions into technical insights and positions, and developing and delivering presentations and materials for conferences, seminars, and forums, incorporating PAIB, SMP, and SME perspectives where relevant.
  • Creation of external deliverables to support the global accountancy profession including articles, toolkits, reports and guidance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IFAC member organizations, volunteers, firms, international standard‑setters, and other external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the effective operation of PPRAG, PAIBAG, and SMPAG by cultivating relationships with members and technical advisers.
  • Maintain records, databases, and documentation relating to regulatory tracking, stakeholder contacts, and project activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in audit, within an accounting role in industry or within a professional services firm, standard setter, or professional accountancy organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical material into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with digital collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, project management software) and use of artificial intelligence applications.
  • Strong analytical capability, including the ability to evaluate accounting, assurance and ethical issues, identify key themes, and develop appropriate outputs in response.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, cultures, and levels of seniority, including with external stakeholders and government officials.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple deadlines, including those driven by external timelines.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement in deliverables and processes.
  • Experience with content management systems, and social media tools.
