POSITION SUMMARY 
The Audit Technical, Ethics, and Methodology Manager plays a central role in advancing IFAC’s work on international accounting standards. This position leads the development of technically robust positions on emerging and existing standards, including drafting and coordinating IFAC’s global profession-wide responses to consultations issued by international standard-setting boards such as the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA).


The role requires strong accounting, audit and ethics expertise and the ability to interpret complex standards, assess their practical implications, and translate them into clear, actionable guidance for global stakeholders. The role supports the adoption and consistent implementation of international standards by developing methodology, interpretive guidance, and implementation resources that address real-world challenges faced by the profession.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the role also contributes to thought leadership, policy development, and global advocacy efforts by synthesizing technical input into cohesive, high-quality outputs that influence standard setting and support the profession worldwide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Ethics, Assurance & Standard Setting Input
  • Lead the development of IFAC’s technical responses to consultation papers, exposure drafts, and other pronouncements issued by international standard-setting boards, including the IAASB and IESBA.
  • Analyze proposed and existing standards to assess technical implications, implementation challenges, and areas requiring clarification or guidance.
  • Synthesize input from global stakeholders into clear, technically sound positions that reflect the views of the profession.

Methodology & Implementation Support
  • Produce high-quality implementation guidance, including technical papers, interpretive resources, and practical tools addressing complex or emerging issues.
  • Identify areas where additional clarification or guidance is needed and proactively develop resources to support adoption and consistent application globally.

Technical Analysis & Insight Generation
  • Monitor developments in international standard-setting and regulatory environments, providing timely technical analysis and briefings.
  • Analyze stakeholder feedback (e.g., comment letters, surveys, jurisdictional input) to identify key technical themes, divergence in practice, and implementation challenges.
  • Translate technical insights into actionable recommendations that inform IFAC’s advocacy and implementation strategies.

Project & Knowledge Management
  • Manage technical workstreams and deliverables related to standard-setting and implementation initiatives, ensuring high-quality output and timely delivery.
  • Maintain structured documentation of technical positions, interpretations, and guidance to support consistency and institutional knowledge.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of IFAC’s technical resources, methodologies, and knowledge-sharing approaches both internally and externally.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in audit, assurance and professional ethics within a professional services firm, standard setter, or professional accountancy organization.
  • Strong knowledge of international accounting standards, including assurance, ethics, and corporate reporting, with experience supporting or preparing responses to standard‑setting consultations considered highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical capability, including the ability to evaluate technical accounting, assurance and ethical issues, identify key themes in stakeholder input, and develop well-supported positions.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical materials (e.g., standards, comment letters, regulatory guidance) into clear, structured insights and recommendations.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, cultures, and levels of seniority, including with external stakeholders and government officials.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple deadlines, including those driven by external timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical material into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with digital collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, project management software) and use of artificial intelligence applications.
